Finance & Operations (Frontier Research)

Frontier Research is an independent research and product group formed to bridge the gap between fundamental research and commercial products. We build upon our expertise in MEV and blockchains to pull the future of crypto into reality.

Web3 and the crypto ecosystem more broadly has historically had a chain centric worldview. We believe this is an outdated framework originating from a perceived scarcity in blockspace.

We believe an ecosystem wide transition towards an account centric worldview will enable the consolidation of an increasingly fragmented user experience.

At OneBalance we are developing a non-custodial account model to provide users with a seamless, account-centric experience. Our model introduces resource locks to accounts on credible commitment machines. OneBalance is a framework for managing these Credible Accounts. Our goal is to provide a missing component of the web3 stack that will help onboard the first billion humans onto crypto. You can learn more about the OneBalance vision here.

The role

We are seeking a skilled UK-based individual to fill a Finance & Operations role. In this position, you will work directly with the COO to handle the wide range of finance and operational requirements for a small but growing startup in the complex blockchain space.

We are a small team, so this role requires you to wear many hats. You will be the owner of all things finance (accounts, bookkeeping, projections, structuring, payments) but will also work across other operational tasks, such as helping close fundraising rounds, managing the hiring processes, supporting with events, and other things that may be required from time to time.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a dynamic startup or startup-adjacent environment, such as at a VC fund or a reputable accounting or law firm supporting early-stage startups. You should have experience owning the accounts and finance processes for a company structure that includes parent and subsidiary companies and be comfortable with managing books with crypto assets. Dealing with multi-jurisdiction company structures is a bonus. You should also have a general understanding of corporate structures and agreements relevant to startups.

You must be familiar with crypto and have dealt with blockchain assets in a finance or accounting role previously. A keen interest and understanding of the crypto space and the current and potential US and international Crypto regulations will help the candidate excel in this role. Familiarity with crypto concepts such as public/private keys, transactions, smart contracts, validators, and decentralization will further enhance the candidate's suitability.

While not mandatory, experience in a crypto startup, understanding of Ethereum’s transaction supply chain, and familiarity with funding methods like SAFE, Series A-D, and others would be considered valuable assets. Proficiency in equity modeling and cap table administration using tools like Carta is also highly desired.
